Accessibility at AscendCRM

Last updated September 2026

Our commitment

Ascentsai Inc. builds AscendCRM for people who run small businesses, and that includes people who use a keyboard instead of a mouse, a screen reader, magnification, captions, or a browser tuned to reduce motion. We want the website and the product to be usable by everyone who wants to run their business on them. This page says plainly where we stand, including the parts we have not finished.

The standard we aim at

We work to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. Alberta, where we are incorporated, does not currently have its own accessibility legislation, so we have chosen the standard that the Accessible Canada Act and Ontario's AODA both build on, and that customers across Canada reasonably expect. We treat it as the floor, not the ceiling.

Where we stand today

We audited ascendcrm.ca in September 2026 against the checks below and fixed what we found. As of that audit:

  • Every page declares its language, uses proper landmarks (navigation, main content, footer) and a heading order that does not skip levels.
  • A “Skip to the main content” link is the first thing a keyboard reaches on every page, so the navigation and the long scrolling story can be stepped over at once.
  • Every link and button has a name that a screen reader can announce, and every form field has a label. We do not use positive tab order, and nothing interactive is hidden from assistive technology.
  • Text contrast is measured as the colour actually composited on screen, not the colour we declared, because our surfaces are translucent and the two are not the same number. Body and interface text meets the 4.5 to 1 ratio, and large text meets 3 to 1.
  • If your system asks for reduced motion, the moving sky, the scroll animations and the page transitions all stop. Nothing important is told by motion alone.
  • Pages can be zoomed and reflow to narrow widths without a horizontal scrollbar, and they work with scripting turned off.
  • Colour is never the only way we say something. Where we use a colour to mark status, a word or a mark says the same thing.

What still falls short

We would rather name these than let you discover them:

  • We have not had an independent audit. The checks above are our own, automated and manual. They are not a substitute for testing by people who use assistive technology daily, which we intend to commission.
  • Screen reader testing is incomplete. We have tested with VoiceOver on macOS. We have not yet tested thoroughly with JAWS or NVDA on Windows.
  • Some illustrations carry small labels. The product mock-ups on our marketing pages are pictures of the app, and a few of their labels are small. They illustrate what the surrounding text already says, so nothing is only available in the picture, but they are not sized for comfortable reading.
  • The signed-in product has had a lighter review than this website. The app at app.ascendcrm.ca is built from the same components and follows the same contrast and motion rules, and we have fixed the issues we found, but we have not yet audited every screen to the standard above. This is our current priority.
  • We do not control everything on the page. Where a third-party service is embedded, its accessibility is the provider's. We will tell you what is in the way and press them on it.

Tell us when something blocks you

If any part of AscendCRM is difficult or impossible for you to use, we want to hear about it, and we would rather hear too early than too late. Write to accessibility@ascendcrm.ca.

It helps if you can tell us the page or screen, what you were trying to do, and the browser and assistive technology you use. You do not need to know the technical name for the problem; describing what happened is plenty.

We aim to acknowledge you within two business days and to tell you what we intend to do and roughly when. If a fix will take time, we will offer another way to get the task done in the meantime. There is no cost or obligation attached to asking, and we will not treat an accessibility report as a support ticket to be closed.

Getting the same thing done another way

If something in the product is not usable for you and the fix is not immediate, contact us and we will do the task with you or for you: pulling a report, sending an invoice, importing your customers, or anything else the software would normally do. This is not a favour, it is part of the service you pay for.

How we keep this from drifting

Accessibility is checked as part of how we build, not as a pass before launch. Contrast is measured on real composited colour whenever palette or surfaces change, keyboard reach and focus are checked on new screens, and reduced motion is respected by default rather than added afterwards.

We review this page at least once a year and whenever we make a significant change to the site or the product. The date at the top is the last time we did.
